Holy Week: Palm Sunday Procession

Our annual tradition continues as we recall Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We gather at the church and process through the neighborhood, visiting our neighbor churches, singing hymns, waiving palm branches and joyfully exclaiming ““Hosanna in the highest”. The real star of the show is our guest burro.

Pizza & Palms

Join us for a chance to visit, break bread (in the form of pizza) and fold palm crosses for the forthcoming Palm Sunday services. This annual event will be held this year in conjunction with the regularly scheduled Mary~Martha Guild meeting. All ladies of St. Peter’s are welcome!

Legislative Committee

Legislative Action Committee Meeting The Nevada Legislature is in session from February through June 2025. During that time members of St. Peter’s track bills of interest and engage with the law makers on issues of importance to the church. Meetings are open to anyone in the congregation or the community that wish to be involved.

Ash Wednesday The first of the forty days of Lent, named for the custom of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of worshipers at Ash Wednesday services. The ashes are a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality, and may be imposed with the sign of the cross. We will observe Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at two services:

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent – the 40 days leading up to Easter – was traditionally a time of fasting and on Shrove Tuesday, Anglo-Saxon Christians went to confession and were “shriven” (absolved from their sins). Lay Reader Training

Become a Lay Reader Becoming a lay reader is a wonderful way to participate in our worship services. At each service, lay leaders read the lessons and guide the congregation in the Psalms. Join Fr. Michael for this opportunity to learn to become a lay reader and support the ministry and worship of St. Peter’s. The training will take place in between the services on Sunday, January 26.
