Father Michael has loved the Episcopal Church and other houses of worship since he was a child. He grew up in San Diego where his father served as an officer in the US Navy and then in the City Planning Department of San Diego.
Fr. Michael has degrees in Business Economics (BS, UC Santa Barbara, 1982), Marriage and Family Therapy (MS, Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, 1994), School Psychology (PPS, Cal-State University, Los Angeles, 1996) and Divinity (MDiv, The General Theological Seminary, 2013, cum laude).
Awards he has received are the Community Service Award from Fuller Seminary, and the Faculty Award for Excellence in Theology from Bloy House.
During seminary he interned as the Assistant to the Deputy for Ecumenical and Inter-Faith Mission at the Episcopal Church’s headquarters in New York City.
He has served as a priest in the Dioceses of New York, Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles. His passions in ministry are in preaching, liturgy and pastoral care. Missional efforts close to him are the faith and order of the Episcopal Church, serving the poor, standing up for social justice, and serving ecumenism and inter-faith dialog.
He lives with his best (four-legged) friend, Beau, who goes with him almost everywhere.
He loves walking, gardening, classical music, cooking, travel, and making pilgrimages.
